I am a diehard fan of Bengali film actor Swastika Mukherjee and I generally don’t miss any of her movies. I have been following her on Instagram and that’s how I got to know about her new film, The Lovely Mrs. Mookherjee, which seems to be quite interesting.
Trailer – An Intriguing Glimpse
When I watched the trailer for the first time, I was literally confused. First I thought it’s a science fiction concept. Then, it felt like a romantic comedy. But I would definitely praise director Indranil Roy Chowdhury who manages to create a strong sense of intrigue through his use of visuals and a well-cut trailer. The trailer raises many doubts but does not give answers, a rare thing with movie trailers nowadays.
Movie Review:
The Storyline:
It’s a story inside story! Mouri – a talented makeup artist is the storyteller here. During her meeting with a prospective groom, she narrates the story of her ‘Minu Masi’ – the lovely Mookherjee. Basically, it is a story of a beautiful woman who got married to a writer who is obsessed to win the Nobel prize in literature. This creates a lot of tension in their relationship and set off a chain of unimaginable events. What are those events? To know that, it is better you head to ZEE5 and discover it yourself. It is worth that effort.
Great Casting:
A good cinema needs a good story, good director and most importantly good casting. Mrs Lovely Mookherjee aka Swastika has done a beautiful job in the movie and steals the show from all. The character perfectly portrayed the coyness, the aspiration, desire and lust of a woman. Even in the past, we have seen her in many films and she can do anything if the character demands. This movie too will be listed as an example in future, thanks to her powerful performance.
Also, praises need to be given to eminent actor Bratya Basu has played her husband’s role. He knows exactly how to make a character alive.
Also, the girl who plays the role of ‘Mouri’ too deserves a special mention for pulling off a simple looking, yet tricky role.
The use of VFX:
In this movie, one can enjoy the amazing use of visual effects and the use of makeup. Not to given any spoilers but there is one sequence featuring Swastika that will leave you shocked at the life-like quality of her makeup.
Other aspects that deserve a special mention:
- Sharp and effective dialogues
- Use of Tagore songs
- Costume Design
There are so many high budget Bengali films where we can see exotic locations, designer costume, dance, romance and many other things but acting & story get less importance. But this ZEE5 movie will make you rethink your perception about cinema, in general.
So, go ahead and subscribe to ZEE5 and watch The Lovely
