Sushmita Sen and Lalit Modi are the new power couple on the block. They are now the talk of the town as they made the official announcement about their relationship on 14th July. The love affair came to light after the business tycoon shared schmaltzy pictures with the former Miss Universe from their recent beach vacation days.

The pictures took social media to the storm and went viral within a few minutes. He also added a romantic caption to the picture – giving a hint about his “new beginning” of life and addressing Sushmita as his “better half”. The caption exactly says – “Just back in London after a whirling global tour the Maldives and Sardinia with the families – not to mention my better-looking partner Sushmita Sen. A new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon. In love does not mean marriage yet”.

Ever since then, netizens are abuzz with different opinions about the relationship. Many of them called the beauty queen aka Bollywood actress a “gold digger”. Although Sushmita Sen maintained silence about her recent love affair, after seeing such comments, she strongly opposed the statement. She responded humorously – “I dig deeper than gold … and I’ve always preferred Diamonds!! And yes, I still buy them myself!!!”
The former Miss Universe pageant winner posted a single photograph of herself amidst the blue ocean and sky and captioned it with strong words – “perfectly centered in my being & my conscience. I love how nature merges all its creation to experience oneness.. and just how divided we are when we break the balance.” She also has called the negative comments and trollers “heart-breaking”. She said it was funny to watch unknown acquaintances passing comments on her personal life who knows nothing about her.
Sushmita Sen was being with relationships with a number of famous personalities before. Director Bikram Bhatt, cricketer Wasim Akram, actor Randeep Huda, celebrity manager Bunty Sajdeh, hotelier Sanjay Narang, and model-actor Rohman Shawl are many of them. It was rumored that the married life of Anil Ambani and Tina was going through hard times when Sushmita Sen entered the picture.
Now, she is 46 and enjoying her motherhood with two adopted children.
Whereas Lalit Modi is 56 and staying out of India. After the IPL of 2010, Lalit Modi was suspended from the chairman post of IPL. He was accused of indiscipline, misconduct and financial irregularities. After launching an investigation against him, Lalit Modi was found guilty and BCCI banned him for life in the year 2013. Since then, he was living outside India and has never come back.
In 2018, he lost his wife Minal Modi as she died due to cancer. They tied the knot in 1991 and remained together until Minal died. They have two children together.

Her former boyfriend Bikram Bhatt has come out and supported her by calling her “love digger” instead of “gold digger”. In an interview with India Today, the Bollywood filmmaker said Sushmita Sen is the last person who checks for bank balances before falling in love with someone. There he also mentioned the story of how Sushmita Sen supported him when he was penniless.
As the media has started speculating on the Sushmita-Lalit wedding, the London-based businessman has clarified in a follow-up tweet that they are just “dating”.
Soon, Sushmita Sen’s father – the retired Indian Air Force officer Shubeer Sen reacted to the rumors by saying that he has no knowledge about his daughter’s relationship with Lalit Modi. He further said that during his telephonic conversation with his daughter, there was no mention of such a relationship. If this happens, he will surely know in the future.
